Half-scale precast segmental concrete bridge pier segments were fabricated in collaboration with Mid-State Precast through Charles Pankow Builders, Ltd. for Cornell research. A number of the precast segments were ECC and will be integrated into unbonded post-tensioned bridge piers of traditional precast reinforced concrete segments for cyclic loading tests. The experiments will be conducted at the George Winter Laboratory at Cornell University and are scheduled to begin in August 2002. The research is sponsored by the National Science Foundation and the Post-tensioning Institute with material and fabrication donations from Charles Pankow Builders, Ltd. and material donations from VSL International and Kuraray Co., Ltd.
